Window Regulator Operations

Question for all.

I have installed all new window channel and felt in my '72 Jimmy. I cleaned and lubed the original window regulators when I had them out.

Now that they're installed, they are extremely hard to roll down. When rolling up, they're still a bit stiff, but much easier than trying to roll them down.

Anybody have any suggestions?

Thanks, Pat

I saw a post just the other day where a member had that problem. The metal channel that the window glass is installed in was catching on the new window channel/felt and keeping it from rolling up/down. He had to cut a small piece of the metal off of the end of the channel to fix it. I can't find the post again.

Thanks for responding. I never did take the windows out of the channel that they're secured in as those were in pretty darn good shape. I'll have to go through my pics though and see if they are as what you described.

Thanks, Pat

Re: Window Regulator Operations

I rember the post Doc mentioned
I cant seem to find it either

the fellows window bracket stuck out to far and dug into the new felt it was solved by cutting back the channel that attaches to the window by about 3/4 of an inch

I found that lubing the felts with silicon spray also helped the window roll up and down more easily

Wow! That did wonders for both windows. Both sides work great!

Thanks, Pat
