NOS Doors?
Where can I get a set of nos doors for a 72 GMC? I have been looking and all I can find are repop doors. Are they as good of a fit as nos? I'm a little lost as to what to do here. Any help is appreciated. Thanks, Dan

NOS doors (if you can find them) will likely be 3 to four times the price of repops. Your best bet would be ebay or word-of-mouth to find them.
As for repops, there are some guys who swear nothing repop'd fits, some that say they work with a little tweeking, and some that say they are as good or better than original. My thoughts on why the varying opionions has to do with the source of the parts, the expectations of the buyer, and the skills the buyer possesses in panel alignment. Remember the fit and finish when these trucks were new is not comparable to today's production standards. Even NOS parts require patience to get it right, and if you are trying to outdo the standards by which these trucks were originally built, expect to tweek most everything and you'll need a LOT of patience and skill. My advice is to find rust-free used or buy the repops. Make sure you purchase through a dealer that actually builds thse trucks and has used the products they sell in "real life". Good luck.

I too was hesitant about repro doors, but after giving up on finding a set of rust free 72 doors, I put on a pair of Goodmark 72 doors on my 4x4, and they work just fine, also the price was a lot more reasonable than a pair of NOS doors. Good Luck Gerry

Man, I had a chance to get some nos doors back about 5 years ago for $250.00 a pair. Still in the box. I kick myself in the a$$ for not getting them. But back then I was unaware of how rare they were. Damn

Here is another opinion. MOST of the repop doors do not have the same reinforcement at the lower corners that the originals do. ( which by the way is the first place to rust out) Also, pulling all the guts out of the old doors and putting them into a new one is not a piece of cake especially if you replace most of the rubber in the project. Post a "wanted--pair of doors" "matching rust free, straight, complete, original doors" in the buy/sell part of our board and you will get plenty or replies. Typically you can get them from the south or west for a few hundred $$ + ship. In a long run, you just might be better off. Just a thought~~~
