Question heater help please !

hey guys my heater is not working, I believe I know why, but I don't want to brake anything. So before I dive in and screw something up I wanted to get some info. One quick question, hopefully it will make sence !

I believe that the flapper thingie in the box in the engine compartment is not working when you push the leaver over, so what I was going to try and do is pop off the little black plastic piece that the cable runs through. To fix the problum, now the question is ....................... Dose that little black plactic piece come off or will I brake it ?

Thanks Landon

It should just pop off, unless it has been in the sun and has turned brittle.

Could someone explain where this little flapper is. My heater doesn't work either. Figured it'd be worth a shot.

Thanks

Assuming non A/C, follow the cable from your "Heat" lever on the control. You'll see it passes thru the header duct underneath the passenger side footwell. There is a plastic piece that covers up the access hole thru which the cable passes. The cable is attached to a flapper that diverts air thru the heater core when set in the hot position.
