Southern Truck - Sweet!!
Hey gang. New to things here and I just bought a 72 C15 locally in Ontario. When I went to register it the lady was surprised it only had been in Ontario with one other owner and never registered prior to 2011.
Found out just this last week through some investigation with previous owners that it was actually brought up from Arkansas in 2010!! Music to the ears of any car hobbyist in winter climates like we have. Finding a southern truck clean as this one is, score!!!! A long shot but if anyone is from Arkansas and sold a Blue 72 4 speed 307 fleetside back in 2011 or knows who might have, it’s in good hands now and will be getting a full restore and new life. Will try to attach a few pics below. |

From a fellow Canuck and your truck looks great. This is the best run and most knowledgeable site on the web to learn and get assistance with any problems you may run into or questions you may have on your truck and find parts.

Re: Southern Truck - Sweet!!
What town in Arkansas? We have members from the state but it's a lot of area. Congratulations on your purchase. So you are saying someone bought it out of Arkansas in 2010 and brought it to Ontario but never registered it? I'm not sure why the lady was surprised by that. With classics buying is one thing and putting it on the road is another thing. Heck, many restorations take longer than 9 years.

Re: Southern Truck - Sweet!!
Cool truck! Makes me wonder where it got picked from in our great state. This is at least the second truck from Arkansas that I remember someone on here in Canada having. Seems that one was in Alberta but I could mis-remember.
I saw two setting at a car lot in SE Arkansas earlier this week. I was slowing down and thinking about pulling in when my mind told me I had more projects than time and money. Looked to be a 69-70 and a 71-72 setting in the way back row. Get it on the road and enjoy it. You got all winter to get it ready for spring.

Re: Southern Truck - Sweet!!
I see the truck has the 88-98 GM "Styled Steel" wheels. I think they are a nice looking wheel with center capos and beauty rings. They are 7", too. For some reason they are generally ignored by the truck community.
I also noticed the mirrors. They are 67-70 standard mirrors. I wonder if they were swapped onto the original doors or if your truck has had the doors swapped. Are the interior panels molded plastic with built-in arm rest or flat steel (or maybe vinyl covered) with bolt-on arm rests? Also, right under the window/wing vent divider on the inside, is the a dimple with a screw on each door?

Re: Southern Truck - Sweet!!
My 67 came from Cabot Arkansas. It was brought up in 89. Those southern guys don't realize how lucky they are. I've had at least 20 of these trucks and the local ones are definitely a commitment. Less rust is soooo much easier. Nice truck by the way.

Re: Southern Truck - Sweet!!
Sounds like you'll find the dimples and screws, '72 doors.

Re: Southern Truck - Sweet!!
I did indeed. But again weird that I have holes for the 67-70 mirrors or where the holes all the same ?
Back to the comment about the wheels. Are we certain these are 80’s rally wheels and you can tell by looking at them they are 7” not 8 “? What would have come from factory on this 1500 custom? |

Re: Southern Truck - Sweet!!
There it is! Dave's truck was the one I was thinking of. Your 67 and mine were less than 20 minutes apart for at least some of their life.
