Rack & Pinion conversion questions.

1969 GMC 3/4 ton with disk brakes and control arms from a 1971 GMC 3/4 ton.

Who has done one and do you like it?? Will it fit a 3/4 ton?? You have pics if done?? Most places I look says for 1/2 tons. Thanks.

Re: R&P conversion questions.

Try being more specific with your question. I cannot figure out what you are asking

Re: R&P conversion questions.

The control arms should be the same ball joints will be different in the arms should be the only difference
You will need the steering linkage from the 71 truck as well as they slso differ from drum to disc trucks

Boy was I confused.

Re: R&P conversion questions.

Sorry for all the confusion. Im asking about installing a rack & pinion. Everywhere I look says for c10. I know ball joints are different between the 1/2 ton and 3/4. I'm looking for a rack & pinion for a GMC 3/4 ton. I mentioned that I have front disk brakes and control arms from a '71 GMC 3/4 ton in case it needed to be known. Thanks.

Re: R&P conversion questions.

If it helps, a No Limit rack and pinion will fit into a C20 frame. I only had to modify slightly where the bearing mounts to the frame. I have all C10 suspension on the frame though (QA1), with 73-87 spindles (that needed to be modified slightly).

I'm thinking it should work with the C20 suspension. The only issue I might foresee you running into will be mounting the tie rod ends to the spindles if the C20 tie rod ends are a larger diameter. This is what I had run into (73-87 tie rods larger than 67-72). I had a machine shop drill out the tapered hole in the spindle and press in a sleeve to fit the No Limit tie rod ends. It all came together quite nicely in the end. Now to finish the rest of the truck so I can actually drive it.
