1969 Chevy C30

Hello everyone,
Have a new project and have a question.
My truck was a 157 wheelbase and now its a 115.
My question is how many main leafs and how many overload leafs should it have.
Someone cut off the overloads and it doesnt have upper shock mounts.
Also its missing panhard bar except mount on axle which has been hacked off.
It has the Eaton h072 axle.
I am thinking about rearanging spring packs because its not going to be a log truck just tow vehicle.
Any recomendations would be appreciated.
Thanks
Ken

Re: 1969 Chevy C30

If I get a chance today I'll count my packs. You might not have rear mounts for shocks cause I think it was an option on the 30's. Panhard bars I dont think I'll look at mine and get back to you but I'm going to the sale today and it might slip my slow mind. Jim oh welcome to the site lots of great people on here. Jim

I just removed the HO72 from the C30 cab & chassis I am scrapping out, day before yesterday. I didn't count the number of leaves/overloads but there were a lot of them. I would say that you could do away with the overloads all together unless you are going to be towing/hauling something really heavy. I plan on using C20 rear leaf springs with mine but it won't haul much. I have the '72 Dually for that.

If I remember correctly there is a member on here that has a SWB Stepside Dually, White or Off_White in color.

Re: 1969 Chevy C30

Thinking about taking 3 leafs off bottom for overloads.
Adding block to make up for torched springs left over.

Re: 1969 Chevy C30

My 71 C-30 has a 6 pack spring with a overload on top and one on bottom to be clear there are 8 leafs on the spring pack of my 71. I didnt notice a panhard mount I dont recall ever seeing a panhard bar on a leaf sprung truck but mine does have shocks and I think didnt bother to look today but I think the spid says it has rear shocks. That would probably work. It would still be a really stiff ride empty.

Re: 1969 Chevy C30

Panhard bars are coil sprung truck arm suspension 67 72 trucks only
It only purpose is to keep diff centered

Leaf sprung trucks do not use it so it is not missing
