Transmission question for A833

I finally found something that ive been looking for a while. Its an NP A833. Basically a 4 speed manual with over drive. Take the basic 4 speed and subtract the 1st gear and add over drive. These were behind hemis and i do believe it would hold the power im putting out. It was behind a 6.2 diesel in a chevy truck. DOES ANYONE have experience with these. I never use 1st in my truck anymore and will have the power to use overdrive. I have a new clutch in my truck now. If i take the bell and tranny from this donor and move it to my truck. Can i use my old (which is new) clutch. My current tranny is an SM 420. Also what will I have to do as far as tranny mounts? I havent been able too look at it yet and the guy wants 300 for it. I dont know if ill give that, im going to try and trade some stuff. But could use some insight. Thanks

From memory:
It was only available in '80-81 or so GM pickups and maybe Darts.
All aluminum.
Modelled on the mopar 4 speed car tranny.
They rearranged gears and turned 3rd into OD and widened 1-2.
I think the input shaft was weak on these.
NOT available with Hemis.
Don't know about bells and mounts.
Good up to a non-rowdy 350, 305 would be safer.

Well thats not what ive found. This tranny is in a 84 chevy with a 6.2 diesel. So it will handle the torque. This is also a cast iron case tranny. Which would make it even stronger. It is also a 4 speed, 3rd gear being direct. and 4th overdrive. And I know people that go them behind a 440hp big block from the factory. Or was i told wrong on this. Read down on this page also, it states it was avail in the hemi cuda. Im just wanting to know if anyones had experince with there
