the original square body?
I just got a new to me square body. 1931 Chevrolet Independence 1/2 ton pickup. This truck has been garaged on jack stands since 1966 when it was last tagged. The wood structure is in amazing shape as is the sheet metal. original in every way... ain't she a beaut.

Re: the original square body?
Thanks Guys
Really lucky find and to think it was in a small garage just 4 blocks from my shop. I don't want to even wash the dirt off. Definitely get it running, has a 216 with a Carter downdraft carb, 6 volt and a old gas tank that need cleaning. When loading on the trailer she still had good mechanical brakes. I want to drive her if my 6'4" frame will even fit in that cabin. Here's some pics from her home of 40 something years... |

Re: the original square body?
Totally awesome! I'm sure it's got an interesting story. The fact that it was lurking just around the corner for all these years is icing on the story cake.

Re: the original square body?
That is a fantastic piece of history. Congratulations.
I think that's an updraft carburetor, though.

Re: the original square body?
Yesterday was our 10th Annual Toy Drive and we used the old truck as a toy box for all the donations we received. It was a great day.
During the toy drive the original owner of the 31 Chevy truck pulled in and handed me a 1966 Arkansas license plate that looked brand new and had never been mounted. The last plate registered for the truck. Totally amazed again. |

Re:TOYS and License Plate
Cool. That is a lot of Happy Kids. The previous owner of my '35 gave me a 1935 Colorado plate with our truck . I don't know if it's the first plate issued to the truck or not.

Re: the original square body?
Whats the back story on how you found the truck? Looks like you are going to give it a good home. Pretty small cab for someone with your height. Post a pic of you squeezed in it haha!

Re: the original square body?
That thing is amazing. My buddies are Ford/Model A guys & I've always said I'd love to do a 30's era Chevy truck since I seem to like multiple generations of them.
Of course, I'd 'ruin' it to some degree but would not do anything that couldn't be easily reversed.

Re: the original square body?
They didn't offer electric windows because the passenger winder is so easy for the driver to reach
