Looking for a 1972 350 block in any usable condition. Needs to be casting #3970010 with a April (D) date code.

The date code is on the back of the block Where the bell housing bolts to. It’s to the right side of the casting number towards the passenger side. Starts with a letter and has 3-4 digits following it

I believe that above image is where it could be located on newer blocks but this is where it should be located on the older 350’s

Thanks for the reply but unfortunately that’s a year too early for what I’m looking for. The date and suffix indicate a 71 block

Thanks Tmend but I’m going to have to pass on that as well. That date doesn’t work for what I’m looking for

To dark by the time I get home boss. If still needed I’ll try and get them Saturday. Tried to today and along with no sunlight it’s in a tight spot

Re: WTB: 1972 sbc 350 block

Not to hijack, just want to also point out some engines have the date code on the passenger side of the block next to the motor mount area and not on the rear flange as we normally see. I am not sure if this is only specific to St Catherines engines.

Re: WTB: 1972 sbc 350 block

Do you care about 2 bolt vs 4 bolt main, or just that the date code is correct?

I have a few '72 truck and car blocks but I'll have to go digging in my shed

I would prefer 4 bolt but I’m flexible on that as long as the casting and dates are correct. Let me know what you have. Thanks

Struck out. Looks like mine are mostly late ‘71 castings.

I’ll keep an eye out for you, always coming across things.
