Disable —> Act of keeping the computer from going into V4 mode

Delete —> Physically removing the AFM components from the engine

If you’re trying to disable V4, you can buy devices that plugs into the OBD port and you’re done.

If you’re trying to delete V4, then a tune is required.

I have not heard anyone like the motor management thing, V4 mode. Most of my friends and acquaintances were replacing complete valve trains before 100K. Like EVRLET mentioned, it takes reprogramming to get rid of it.

Probably the biggest issue I have heard of is the lifters that collapse on demand to disable a cylinder for the V4 mode. The lifters tend to fail and don't pump back up, so yeah. get rid of the stuff is probably better than just disabling it.

Re: 2014 silverado,V4 mode issues, or delete

I bought a Diablo tuner to disable the V4 mode. I don't know if this will stop the potential lifter issue but I can tune my truck and calibrate the speedo for different tire size with it also.

Here's a great deal on a refurbished one: https://www.ebay.com/itm/RFB-DiabloS...72.m2749.l2649

Re: 2014 silverado,V4 mode issues, or delete

How many miles are on the truck. The biggest killer is poor maintenance practices, not just oil and filter but air filter as well. GM released a TSB years ago stating something to the affect of poor air filter service and the use of K&N type filters was just as, or even worse for the DOD systems as poor oil change habits. Dirt makes it way in, clogs the lifter holes and bam, they don't pump up anymore. We have a truck at work with 100k on it and a lifter failed. My GMC I bought with 189k had yet to have one fail but I wasn't risking it, I pulled the heads and slid a cam and conventional lifters in, had it tuned and good to go. If you want to delete you need to know if you have dod only, or dod and VVT, you can keep VVT, with the right cam selection, but either way if you are deleting DOD you must swap cams, the lobe profiles are different on the dod cylinders and you'll have drivability issues if you just swap lifters. Summit makes a line of nice affordable truck cam's as well as Texas speed, I used a texas speed stage 2 low lift truck cam and have been more than happy with it. I did also swap on speed engineering long tubes while I had it apart but used the speed engineering y as well and it hooked right up to my stock exhaust, sounds great at idle out side the truck but stock like inside the truck cruising down the road.

Re: 2014 silverado,V4 mode issues, or delete

I just sold a 2014 Dodge Ram with the Hemi that I bought new. I installed a Diablo tuner and disable the DOD in the first year I had it. I normally put about 60K miles a year on a vehicle. I sold this truck with 280K miles on it to my brother-in-law. He now has over 300K miles on it and it still. Dodge has had a known issue with lifters failing but I never had any issues with mine. I can only Guess by deactivating the DOD it help keep those lifters from failing. You can draw your own conclusions.

Hope this helps
