New door locks for panel truck

I need 3. All lockable for font and rear.

1) Is the rear the same mechanism as front ? Looks like it is but havent gtaken it apart.

2) Assume you can just buy two cylinder lockable (i.e 2 passenger) but not sure how to get matching keys for all 3.

Re: New door locks for panel truck

A good locksmith can key the third cylinder to match your door cylinders.

If you don't have a locksmith that can or will do it for a reasonable price I know this shop is capable and very reasonable.

he Lock Shop
( 0 Reviews)
The Lock Shop
1612 E Edison Ave
Sunnyside, WA 98944
(509) 837-4970

The shop has been in the same little building for as long as I can remember and do an excellent job.

Or if you have a lock cylinder on the back door now and don't mind an extra key you can pop the cylinder out and have a key made from the code on the cylinder.

I don't know if the truck trinket vendors will sell a matching third cylinder or not.

That might be less expensive than having some locksmiths code the key though one outfit next to where I used to work wanted 45 to do one key, the lock shop did it for ten. That was several years ago but prices vary drastically.

48 Chev 3100 that will run a 292 Six.
71 GMC 2500 that is getting a Cad 500 transplant.
77 C 30 dualie, 454, 4 speed with a 10 foot flatbed and hoist. It does the heavy work and hauls the projects around.

thanks !!

Looks like the passenger and rear door are keyed together. So might just pop that into the drivers side assuming it fits ...... and get a seperate key for the drivers side ...... else look into having the new cylinder keyed to match. Didnt know about that so thanks !!

Re: New door locks for panel truck

i believe our trucks only lock the button from pushing in
and the lockable button is only on the passenger side

look at lmc truck, you'd need to buy a 3 and 4 to get 3 buttons
then take the oddball lock to the locksmith

Thank man.
Yeah think I will buy another passenger side lock cylinder and either

a) Swap out back to drivers side so drives and passenger are same and rear is different

or

b) Have it rekeyed or whatever by a locksmith to match. Didnt know this was an option so thanks guys. That way all 3 should match.

Re: New door locks for panel truck

Classic parts does sell a matched set of push buttons with matching keys.

https://www.classicparts.com/1955-59...tinfo/18-149M/

They also sell the single keyed one https://www.classicparts.com/1955-59...ctinfo/18-149/

A bit of asking might get a single that has the same key as the matched pair.

I'd think the other truck trinket houses have them too.

Premier has a complete lock set for pickups with ignition tumbler and glove box lock https://www.premierstreetrod.com/det..._Lock_Set.html They also sell a single door lock

Wes at Classic Heartbeat shows the locks too. He might be more inclined to hook you up with a matching back door key and he knows burbs and panels pretty well. Plus as he is a one man with a bit of help operation he is able to give more personalized service. https://www.classicheartbeat.com/pro...on-door-locks/

Thanks man.
I think now you guys gave me the idea of just switching cylinder locks and ability to rekey .....then that will be the cheapest route. I saw the complete set also ...... but $30 sounds better than $100+
