Question Question for the Vendors

I'm in the process of installing new rockers on my '71 but I'm running into a problem. The rockers I bought are not the same dimensions as the originals. The exterior length of the rocker that is visible when the door is closed, is 1/8" to short. This is leaving a large gap at the cab corner. The original measures 39-1/4" the replacement measures 39-1/8". Also the lip that the door weatherstrip attaches to is aprox. .200 shorter than the original.

Are any replacement rockers being manufactured that have dimensions closer to the originals than these? Thanks.

I know we just put a set on a '72. Bought them straight from GM parts store.. I know the guys on this site have Very good quality parts. So I would wait for one of them to reply with prices..
The ones from GM are kinda pricey, but fit perfectly.

Factory GM from the dealer. Can't be beat. Price is higher than a Giraffe's butt though. Seems like wholesale on my last one was about 80 bucks each.

I figure the originals lasted thirty years, why not pay a little more to get another set as good?

I'm up in Southhampton. You would'nt happen to have a couple of nice fenders for a '71 you want to get rid of?

Well I went outside to measure several rockers on the trucks that I have out here. All of these rockers are the origanals that came on the trucks. Here are the measurements: 39 1/8", 39 1/4", 39 1/8", 39 1/4", 39 3/16", 39 1/8". These were all L/H Rockers measured in the same places and all original GM rockers. I then measured several L/H reproduction rockers and this was that result: 39 1/8", 39 1/8", 39 1/4", 39 3/16", 39 1/8". Now when you consider that GM's own specifications are + or - 1/4", it would seem like the reproductions measure up the same as the origanals... I think that you are going to experience the same issues with Genuine GM, and it is the luck of the draw what length you wind up with. GM will just get into your pockets deaper. Wes, what about the lip that the weatherstrip goes on? My original measures aprox. 5/8" and the repro. is aprox. 7/16". Did the G.M. rockers also have this much variation in this area? Thanks.
