Coolant leak from oil pan
Got the truck up and running and have been trying to figure out my coolant issue. Thought I’d post here to see. I have a LM7 in my 49 3100. Swapped the oil pan with one that has a lower profile, but seems like I have a coolant leak in one of the spots that had a hole for a bolt but my block doesn’t have a bolt hole. Anyone run into this? When it’s @ 190 seems to just pour from there.

Re: Coolant leak from oil pan
Think i found the issues. Coolant temp sensor is leaking I’ll swap it when engine is cool again. Odd that oil pan bolt is not there though.

Re: Coolant leak from oil pan
I would have drilled and tapped the block for that bolt.

Looks like the gasket is off center on that hole

Re: Coolant leak from oil pan
Be careful when you replace the temp sensor and don't over tighten as they will break quite easily. Ask me how I know.

Re: Coolant leak from oil pan
My LM7 is the same as yours. No bolt drilled / tapped there.

Re: Coolant leak from oil pan
Glad to hear that's all it was. Got to love an easy fix.
