Which Project Next??
What should I do next, Would love to hear your opinions.
Option A: Convert from manual steering to power steering Option B: Convert from manual brakes to power brakes to include a disc brake conversion for the front and convert from 6-lug to 5-lug on front and rear. Will probably lower the truck a tad too. Option C: Pull out the 3 OTT and convert to automatic tranny. All are expensive, but over the next few years I want to complete all, just got to figure out which order to do these in. Thanks guys! |

Well it depends on your budget is and what you are tired of the most.
If you are tried of everything being manual then: A, B, C If you want to put safety first then: B, A, C If you want to go by least expensive then: A, C, B If you want to go by the level of work then: C,A,B So as you see it all depends on what your priorities are. Good Luck

If it’s going to take some years (like most of us), you might save C for last, as your engine needs/wants might change, and you’ll like want to do the combo at the same time.

I would do it in this order.
"B" 1st. why safety, better braking will afford you a lower chance of not stopping fast enough when a newer vehicle stops on a dime. Next up "C" This will allow you to have the column in place that you will be hooking to the power steering before doing it. next up "A" power steering |

I’m going down this exact path and have chosen ‘B’ first by going to power with disc conversion up front on my 67.
Have th400 and auto column so I’ll slowly gather parts for that swap at some point. Have the pump, brackets, and steering gear from a 73-74 as well. At some point I’ll tackle the other two but focusing on getting it on the road and then continue to improve it.

Man, the brakes and then steering. I kept my 3 OTT and had new bearings and seals installed. I missed driving those! Side note, anyone not wanting their column let me know!

Fantastic point on having a safe braking system. That sounds like a great next project. Guess I start collecting all the parts. Who has the better kits POL or CPP?? I think the price is fairly even.
