Need help with value
Hello a friend is finally considering selling me his Jimmy that's sitting in a field. Been sitting the last 10 years but I dont know what to offer him or what values are right now. Just looking for ideas of what its worth before I give him an offer.
Not too much rust at all, just some smaller spots. Interior is rough and sitting in the sun didn't help. He doesn't know too much about other than a mild built 350 https://gyazo.com/fb981fb20587305c6e801c6b0f8dbf8b https://gyazo.com/bcbccbdd16e8e6afc2023d5675b379a1 https://gyazo.com/103baca553b3b41ce7ecbfc793f14285 https://gyazo.com/578d2629fa92809dcab99bb2748f9670

Fairly complete truck, maybe start at $1200.

Re: Need help with value
From your description and what I can see in the photos (single wall top, correct seats, uncut dash, relatively clean) I'd say the seller would have buyers all day long at $8k in the present market as it sits. Anything less and you did great imo.
Here's a 69 Blazer on eBay now that can sort of serve as a comp (has AC, CST) - no mention whether or not a top is included: https://www.ebay.com/itm/1969-Chevro...IAAOSwuChgDgSd

Re: Need help with value
I would take a closer look underneath and into the rocker boxes first. Even with the boxes in good shape and you want to completely restore, you're looking at least 15k plus going through the whole thing from to back. 1500-2k would be a decent deal in my opinion.

Re: Need help with value
The very most I would pay for that one is $4500. It has all the typical rust issues, but the front seats and top are a bonus. Too bad it isn't a Blazer, LOL.

1500 is laughable. It’s 6 or 7k

Thanks for all the comments and help. He said he'd come up with a price in the next couple days so we'll see if I get a Jimmy by the weekend.

Values seem to be tied to geography. The Jimmy in the condition shown and described wouldn’t be worth more than $2,000 to $3,000 tops in the Pacific Northwest. I bought my 1971 rust free Jimmy with 114,700 original miles, recently rebuilt original 350 and rebuilt THM 350 tranny, new front seat covers, decent paint (Hugger Orange) double wall top and unmolested wiring for $11,500 in December 2017. I’ve put a couple thousand $$ in it (rear springs, shocks all around, carpet kit, sound deadening mat) and a ton of hours detailing and tweaking it from top to bottom. I think it would bring around $20,000 - $22,000 today.
A previous poster said too bad it’s not a Blazer. I prefer GMC over Chevy just for the fact there are fewer seen. I also like the grille design better. Personal taste and preferences I guess. Posted via Mobile Device Last edited by Classics Fan; 01-27-2021 at 12:39 PM. |

If I ventured into another K5 project I'd prefer it to be a GMC

Re: Need help with value
That truck has a lot of pluses. Like others have said, the top, the original seats, push bar and even those turbine wheels. In today’s market those parts alone may be worth $2500-$3500. In the northeast where I live that truck would sell for $6500-$7500 all day. To some it may be another plus that it’s a jimmy. I don’t have a jimmy yet.

Re: Need help with value
Here’s another comp for perspective. Rust bucket with utility buckets, broken hatch, and a double wall top now at $7600 yet reserve not met: https://www.ebay.com/itm/1971-Chevro...gAAOSwH1xgDFmJ

Re: Need help with value
I’m on a Facebook group 69-72 blazers and people are asking crazy prices. A rolling chassis with just the blazer tub for $3500 +. I know value has gone up, but it’s out of control and people are paying it. From what I’ve seen on that page a Jimmy/blazer like the one you posted would sale for 8-10k plus.

Not all are priced out of sight. Here’s a nice 72 Blazer for $20,000 OBO in Wyoming. Seems prices are much higher East over West but maybe that’s just my impression. Posted via Mobile Device |

Re: Need help with value
The body on the 71 sure looks like a hot mess as if they painted over dents and rust. The VIN plate was attached with incorrect rivets. Buyer beware.

Re: Need help with value
I like the color, but it looks like a polished turd. Seller is probably just looking for a quick flip.

The word is definitely out....current Hagerty magazine, “No other Bull Market vehicle has performed better than the Blazer.”

I’m stunned at what this went for. When and how did I lose track of the value of these rigs? Any thoughts on relative values of the various years? In other words is there more value in a ‘69 than say a ‘71 or’72 in comparable condition? Blazer vs. Jimmy?
