Square body Engine mounts

Does anyone know if the small block clam shell engine mounts for a 73 or newer would work in the 67-72? Including the frame mounts. I don't like the mounts on the 67-72 and looking to change it while I have the engine out.

Awesome. Thanks for the info and the pics. So on the frame the holes line up and we just need to drill in the crossmember?

Upper part lines up the lower you will have to drill one hole each side.

Did you have to notch the frame rails? I read somewhere that the rails have to be cut back 3/8ths of an inch on both sides.

Re: Square body Engine mounts

If you look at the bottom right of this picture the 67 frame isn't trimmed back like the later models that were to use a big block , I'm pretty sure you would only have to trim back a 67 frame to use them .

Here is what member Captainfab said:

Quote:
The motor mount brackets from a C20 will fit the older frames better. The C10 frames are taller than our older truck frames. The '73-'87 C20 frames are closer in height. protrash64 used the C10 brackets when he put the 454 in his Burb. You can check it out in the 'Projects and Builds ' section.

You'll also need to trim the top flange of the frame for the '73-'87 motor mount brackets.

Re: Square body Engine mounts

This thread shows the difference between a 67 and the 68-72 frame top rail .

Post a want to buy ad in the 73-87 section. I'm sure there's ton of this stuff around. I bought GOM's to giv me options on a build I am working on...I don't like the 67-71 small block sandwich type mounts, they eventually separate, ALWAYS!!!
