I cleaned the engine a little bit

I decided it was caked up with oil and dirt more than I care for, so I cleaned the carburetor with carburetor cleaner, then covered the carburetor, distributor, and alternator with plastic bags and used Gunk and a power washer to clean up the engine. The breather was installed while getting it wet, and I removed it now so I could give it a shot of paint. Finished up with some 409 cleaner and clean rags on the valve covers. I think it looks pretty great for a daily driver.

Check out the weird markings on the radiator support. I cleaned up that area and gave it a shot of clear paint and avoided doing anything further to that strip when I painted the rest of the radiator support with black paint. I wanted to preserve that weird thing. I kind of like it.

Looks good!.. Not sure what the marking would be. It is different.

Also got a new tune up sticker and air cleaner sticker. The radiator support and engine compartment in general are getting a little attention as I go through and install the new condenser and other components of the air conditioning. I thought I might as well clean and repaint as I go, because I knew I wouldn't want to remove the condenser and grill later just to paint the radiator support.

Yes, Doran Chevrolet is where it came from. I could not see the shapes or letters those markings added up to until you pointed it out. Thanks, mystery solved! I have to use my imagination to fill in the missing parts of the letters and even now I can barely see it. The stencil was too big for the narrow radiator support top.

Thanks. I decided to refresh the tune up sticker because the original one was crumbling and barely readable. I was able to figure out it is a 1969 DC sticker. It appears Chevrolet used a 2 letter code and the code on mine was DC, so that allowed me to find the exact sticker. While I was looking for it I found from the same seller the air cleaner sticker.

Just to give you an idea of how dirty my engine compartment is, that is actually a K&N air filter, and the oil used to be pink.

Probably some seepage coming from the timing chain cover or manifold or something.

...flex fan just draws the seepage oil up, along with some dirt and road dust, and blasts it everywhere.

Good thing I usually drive with the hood down.

Yea, I really need to detail under my hood someday, but I'm not holding my breath until that happens...LAZY!

A couple of years ago I got for Christmas a small can of POR-15 high temp paint manifold grey color. So I decided to continue the clean up by taking the exhaust manifolds off and painting them.
