Cant find any companies that sell one piece driveshaft for a 1968 Chevy C10

I have not been able to find anyplace that sells a one piece driveshaft for a 1968 Chevy C10. The only thing that I keep finding for sale are slip shaft driveshafts that can adjust themselves from approximately 33 inches to 36 inches and are supposed to work well with lowered trucks.

I have heard some 68 Chevy C10 came factory with a one piece but cannot find any place that sells a factory style one piece driveshaft.

Where did you guys buy yours from?

What town / state are you in ? Your local drive shaft shop will build you one for about the same cost as online and you'll know it fits and if you have any problems they are close by .

I just had one built in Portland for mine. 70 & 11/16" long, steel, slip yoke and Spicer u joints included for about $500. Painted black. I believe it's 3.5" diameter. Working great so far.

No one has them laying around in inventory. Call your local drive line shop. They will let you know how to measure it out. You can also google a few major driveline shops, they have tutorials and a printable sheet that walks you through how to measure. Good Luck, Lee.

Go to a junkyard with a tape measure & you may find one that works for your application. My local boneyard had hundreds of them in a shed....took a while to find one that worked (out of a pontiac car was the right size for my 72 shortbed stepside) $35 with the trans output spline the same as my TH350 included.
Be careful you don't get a bent one....some yards pick up vehicles with forklifts & the driveshafts get bent.

Pretty easy to measure. Take the trans slip yoke off your current drive shaft. Slide the yoke all the way in the trans and pull it back out an inch. Then measure from the center line of u-joint (as if it was in the yoke) back to the center line of the rear axle u-joint yoke. Draw a simple diagram of the drive shaft detailing your measurements. Talk to the drive shaft shop and see if you can save a few bucks if they can reuse you current drive shaft yokes.

Ok that is kinda odd. I currently have a couple of muscle cars that you can just buy driveshafts from different manufacturers because they know the dimensions the driveshafts came from factory. Same thing with other muscle cars in the past but this is my first time fixing up a C10 so I didnt know you couldnt just buy one.

Thanks!

There are so many motor mount positions, transmission and rear end combinations that are used in these trucks along with unlimited swap variations and dimensions that the only way you will find a new prebuilt shaft is dumb luck. Measure and build to order. Been doing it that way here for 40 years. Once in a blue moon you can get lucky at wrecker and find one that fits out of the drive shaft pile.
