2001 TAHOE fan belt noise
My 2001 Tahoe, 5.3 developed a fan belt squealing noise. Sprayed some 409 cleaner on the belt as it was rotating and noise went away for a few seconds and then returned. Should be a easy fix. Replace the belt. Removed the belt and cleaned all the pulleys with a brass brush and brake kleen, installed a new NAPA quality fan belt. Started it up. SAME NOISE!! Sprayed with 409 and noise goes away for a few seconds and returns. Any ideas?

Re: 2001 TAHOE fan belt noise
Pull your belt and check your idler & tensioner pulleys. The bearings don't last forever.
If those are OK then check the alternator and water pump.

Thanks, I actually have ordered those to pulleys and plan to change them out this weekend. J

Had the same issue. Idler pulley was the problem.
