Tire size to run
As I am nearing the end of my resto project on my 70 C10 I am trying to decide on a tire size. My truck is lowered with 2.5 inch drop spindles in front and 4 inch drop springs in the rear. I will be running the 6 lug 15x8 rally wheels. I see people say they are running 275/60/15 but wouldn't that be too low profile. Maybe not but I need recommendations. The wheels are being refinished as we speak and as soon as they are done I'm getting tires. Thanks!

Re: Tire size to run
I wanted a 29" tire so I ended up with the BF Goodrich T/As 255 x 70 x 15s on 8" rallys. I plan on driving the wheels off this truck when it's done and I'm not about to carry around a spare and jack in a new wood bed with a rear tank , With AAA premium towing service and the readily available tire brand and size made these a good choice for me . The most it will ever carry again will be a beach chair and a cooler .
I like the look of the 20's and fat tires but I don't like trying to find them on a Saturday let alone replace a custom wheel and tire for $500 ++ out here in the country .

Re: Tire size to run
I have been having the same debate with myself. Here are the tire sizes available in 15". In my case I am going with the largest tire diameter I can get due to 3.73 gears and a TH350 transmission. 265/75/15 which is basically a 30" tire. The only problem is there are limited 30-31" tires that are not mud grips or off road tread. And I want it to look like a slightly lowered street truck.
It really depends on what you are trying to do. I would first consider your drivetrain and figure out the diameter first. Then check that that style of tire is available. https://www.tirerack.com/tires/sizes...sp?diameter=15 |

Re: Tire size to run
Here is a 15 inch only tire thread I started awhile back. Lots of good info there. There is also a link to another older yet thread in there.

Re: Tire size to run
03,
Here is my truck with the exact same drop and exact same wheels you mentioned. I just got tires on it two weeks ago. These are 255/70-15. If I'd have gone another inch in drop all the way around the 60 series might be OK. I have a fifth rally wheel that I have primed and plan on painting solid black to use as a spare.

Re: Tire size to run
03,
Very nice looking truck. Set of rallys with some nice tires will make that ride look even better. I see you have inner fenders out of yours as well. Did you have to replace the passengers side? If so, did you go repop? I have to find a good inner for the passenger side and have not made up my mind which way to go yet.

Re: Tire size to run
I'm going to got 255/70. I'm not interested in doing a stagger. I already have to deal with that with my corvette. 335's in the rear and 285' up front.

Re: Tire size to run
I am running the 6.5” van Rally wheels up front with 225/70-15 and 8” Rally’s in the rear with 275/60-15. I went with the Cooper Cobras. I have CPP modular drop spindles ( 2 or 2 1/2” depending what source you believe) with 1” drop springs, and waiting on my 5” drop coils from GMCPauls to come in.

Re: Tire size to run
I hate to post it because it looks like a cat in heat right now, but this is before I get back and can put the 5 springs in.
