66 4x4's in 4 Wheeler mag
This months Four Wheeler has an interesting reprint on the back page of an artical about the (then) new 1966 GMC 4x4 trucks. Wish I was smart enough to scan and post it, anybody else out there have that skill?
They mention the "quiet and efficiant cloverleaf transfer case" Funny, that's the first time I've heard anybody use those words to describe a T221, though I do know a guy locally that also has a 65 K10 that is quiet as a 2wd. I had to crawl under it the first time I got a ride in it to make sure it really still had a stock Rockwell. They also mention the availabilaty of "three, four and five speed transmissions" Never heard of a five speed in a K truck. Was that a GMC only thing? Anyway, fun to see our old trucks get some print

Re: 66 4x4's in 4 Wheeler mag
I think that the 5 speed may have been a Clark. I had a '57 utility truck that had the 5 spd (non OD) in it.
Maybe the 221s were quiet when they were new? Ive never heard a quiet on though

I was just driving it around their place though - I doubt I got it over about 25-30 mph. Maybe you have to go faster to get the t/c whine?
