What is the most appropriate measurement to increase the speed and reduce the pressure of the engine ?

Easiest thing is to swap an NV4500 5 speed or you could re-gear to 3.54 but you will have to buy 3 series carriers on both ends.
Spend extra money on good ring and pinions...hard to get a good pattern on cheaper gear sets.

I appreciate this big brother and I will definitely replace gears, but I didn't understand what it meant ( buy 3 series carriers on both ends ) .. !

What are the front/rear axles? Dana 44/Dana 60?

For some reason I’m recalling that 12 bolt rear axles need a series three carrier but those are for 1/2t applications not your k2500.

Can’t the D44/D60’s take 3.54 gear sets without need for carrier change?

Switching to 3.54 will help your cause. Alternatively, could add a Gear Vendors overdrive unit and keep the existing gears.

Thank you sir, are there any original parts numbers for me to purchase? Or is there an alternative company that is of high quality?

Re: Dana gmc 1972 k2500

As mentioned, a Gear Vendors Overdrive unit might be a better option for you, versus re-gearing both axles. Take a look at the links I've provided below. Currently, I have Gear Vendors overdrive units installed in two of my K series trucks. Both trucks have the NP205 transfer case, such as your truck, and the install is easy... compared to re-gearing both axles.

Here's an old article on installing a Gear Vendors unit...

https://www.gearvendors.com/4wheel-sep99.html

Here's the website for Gear Vendors...

https://www.gearvendors.com/4x4gmmanual.html

Here's a pic of a GV unit I installed in one of my trucks. The transfer case is a NP205, which again, is what your K2500 should have.

Re: Dana gmc 1972 k2500

If I could do my K20 over I'd go GV overdrive. I don't have known part numbers to share but believe Yukon Gears (https://www.yukongear.com/) can set you up with the axle pieces you'd need for a gear swap.

That’s a great looking setup.. I’m going to do the same to my K20 when I do my LS swap.

a Good Man, I agree I would go the gear vendors route, by the time you got new gears and install kits, seals etc to swap gears on both axles and got everything installed, you’d probably end up spending more than the gear vendors unit.
