275/40/17 tires on the front.

A friend of a friend has asked me if I am open to swapping project trucks. I have a 65 Chevy G10, and he has a 1990 Silverado extended cab. With the mighty 4.3, but it needs a motor.

He knows I have a set of early 90's Bord Coddington 17's, and as I have said before I can recreate my "high school" truck. I graduated in 92 so it fits even though I have never owned one.

The wheels are off a 1992 Corvette, and the fronts are 275/40/17 with the rears being 315/35/17. I measured the the rear, and I could make it work with mild surgery. OK major surgery. Which would be easy for me.

But what about the fronts? Is there any hope with a 3/5 or a 4/6 drop. Or does that require tubbing the front. Which I am not comfortable with on a smogger truck.

I have seen people run 265/35/22's so with the right offset. I think it will be OK, but rub a bit.

What say you?
