Mounting Computer Module
Hi all, I have a 57 Chevy 3100 with a 94 Camaro front clip and LT1/4L60E and I need to mount the computer control module somewhere under the dash. Has anyone done this before? If so, did you fab your own mounts? Find something online? Anything to steer clear of?

Re: Mounting Computer Module
Have you considered under the driver seat? I put my ECU there and ran the cables through a hole in the floor and up the back of the transmission. Just a thought, under the dash can get pretty crowded.

Re: Mounting Computer Module
Perfect! Just the kind of advice I was looking for. Thanks! But how did you mount it?

Re: Mounting Computer Module
On my 51, I mounted the computer under the seat. I used this GM bracket and it worked great.

Re: Mounting Computer Module
Don,
Mine is a Holley terminator so it deals with transmission, fuel, and ignition. I put it on isolators to keep it off the floor. The transmission connector and the exhaust sensor are right under the floor. I made a little dog house to pass the cables under the floor that I could seal up. I still have some wiring to shorten up but for now the coils are fine. John

Re: Mounting Computer Module
Don, Thank you, it’s been a project with lots of hard learned lessons. If you end up under the seat with the ECU you can bring any dash wires up through the kick panels. No need to lay wires under the carpet.

Re: Mounting Computer Module
I'm late to the party but sure like John's327 way of having all those units right where you can get to them rather simply.
I'd swear that some of the engineers who design late model rigs have a game of where can we hide it so the mechanic can't find it going on. That might not be bad when you are a 24 year old tech straight out of technical school but not fun when you are a 74 year old fluffy former mechanic who got out of mechanics about the time computers came in.
