Project 1984 Chevy C30

Had this flatbed 84 sitting on my property for the better part of 10 years.
It's been about 8 years since she was a runner.
Little 292 and a 4 speed.

Re: Project 1984 Chevy C30

Spent a good hour pressure washing the tree sap and moss off as well as giving the engine a tune up.
I put a new carb on it 8 years ago and after taking it apart I was surprised to see it pretty clean inside.
Did an oil change, plugs, and plug wires.
Engine has a nasty misfire and I found it was pulling vacuum through the intake gasket pretty bad.
Pulled the manifolds tonight and am hoping to clean surfaces and install a new gasket tomorrow.

Re: Project 1984 Chevy C30

Buddy of mine has a 454 and 4 speed complete in a truck he's planning on cummins swapping so I may end up with a BBC for this beast. We'll see. I've been itching to make the 6 run good and put a real load behind it to see how it does.
Catch ya'll on the next one.

Nice. 292 will pull, just not fast. Now a BB will definitely do both!!

Re: Project 1984 Chevy C30

Thanks guys!
I did get the new gasket on tonight and it's running much better. Needs an exhaust manifold pretty bad and the intake needs surfaced but it's not leaking nearly as much vacuum as before. Hoping another torque on the bolts will seal it better. I may end up doing an exhaust manifold and a 2 barrel carb if I decide to keep the 6 in there. But the big block power for this truck is tempting haha

That cleaned up nice! I have no criticism for the sixer, but if that big block is ripe for the picking... It seems like getting that 292 running tip top would be worthwhile though.

Thanks! Yeah, It did a retorque on the bolts and a couple new belts today. It's running pretty good for sure.
