Bill's '64 Project................

For the past year, my friend Bill and I have been working on his '64 short bed. The truck was an older restoration and had several paint issues than would have required a total repaint which was cost prohibitive. Instead, Bill decided to do a faux-patina theme and use his money to refresh the mechanicals and add several options.
Here are some pictures of the truck.
The suspension has been rebuilt and upgraded with '79 control arms, disc brakes, drop spindles up front and 3"" drop springs with 1' lowering blocks in the rear. We machined the rotors and re drilled them and the axles to 4 3/4 bolt pattern. The wheels are 15 X 7 68' Corvette AG code rallys.
I'm amazed how well the truck rides and drives!

Re: Bill's '64 Project................

The engine is a stock early '70s 350 with a turbo 350 transmission. A 700R4 is planned later. The power steering pump setup is from a '72 truck. The washer fluid bottle/pump is from a '86 Suburban. The cruise control is early70s Chevrolet passenger car. We added a set of 4 horns from an early '90s Cadillac.....they will get your attention.

Re: Bill's '64 Project................

Moving inside the truck we added several items. The tilt column is from a Chevy motorhome. The parking brake pedal is out of a mid '80s Chevy pickup. We modified the kick panel vents with pull handles from a '72 pickup. The under dash AC vents are from a mid '60s Pontiac. I added under dash speakers using front speaker brackets out of a late '80s suburban.

Cool use of alternative vehicles parts.

Building a small, high rpm engine with the perfect bore, stroke and rod ratio is very impressive.
It's like a highly skilled Morrocan sword fighter with a Damascus Steel Scimitar.....

Cubic inches is like Indiana Jones with a cheap pistol.

Here is an update showing how we ran the exhaust. We wanted it tucked up higher rather than run below the crossmembers.
