Should be the PF 35. Rock Auto shows one with original markings, but pricey.

PF35L is also available from Rockauto and Amazon and a few bucks cheaper than the PF35 with the vintage look.

PF1218 is the replacement for a PF35.
And it has the anti-drain back valve. https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/...pf1218.343009/

Re: What was the original oil filter for a 402BB
I remember PF35 since I first owned one. Somewhere, I think the owner's manual says a 350 & 402 take 5 qts with filter - I think that assumes a smaller filter.
Anyway, PF35 & a dollar says it can take > 5 qts.

Re: What was the original oil filter for a 402BB
The PF30 is an obsolete filter later replaced by the PF24, which fits Buick Olds Pontiac Cadillac applications.

Re: What was the original oil filter for a 402BB
It's a Chevy. Same filter for small block, big block, and 6.2/6.5 diesel

Re: What was the original oil filter for a 402BB
Yes, the PF35 is the large filter and the PF25 is the shorty. The PF30 to my knowledge does not fit any Chevy engine..

Re: What was the original oil filter for a 402BB
My error, I was probably thinking 25. My point was seems their manual or someplace assumes the smaller filter, IMO.

Re: What was the original oil filter for a 402BB
I read that AC filters are now made by Champion, who also makes cheapie store brand filters. It could be the ones made for AC are higher quality, but who knows?
Can't beat WIX 51061, IMO. Much heavier than the newer AC filters, FWIW. The tech weenies at BobIsTheOilGuy.com like them.

Re: What was the original oil filter for a 402BB
My 69 396 has the cartridge filter in the huge steel "can". I love it. I cannot remember right now what filter it uses.

PF30 fits many Buick, Olds, Pontiac, Cadillac applications. It was replaced by the PF24 in the early 80's.

Sure do wish I had never sold that car! It was a real runner, buckets, console, 4 spd, posi rear end, factory tach. Not one of my better thoughts back then.

Sold the 66 for around $900 and bought the new 70 for $2700. Just found an inflation calculator that shows those numbers would be $6,195 and $18,580 in 2021 dollars.
