Do the headlight switches die?

Hi all. I'm having some trouble out of my 87's blinkers and the problem seems to be the headlight switch. I just wanted to stop by and ask if this is common. Anyone else have their headlight switch die? Or some portion of it stop functioning?

I just like to know these things for some reason. The issue was that the right blinker won't function and I've successfully traced it to the switch. Thanks!

Re: Do the headlight switches die?

you sure you traced it to the headlight switch? pretty sure it doesn't connect to the blinkers.

Re: Do the headlight switches die?

The hazards and turn signals don't go through the headlight switch.

Hazard lights go from the fuse box as a battery-hot feed, through a hazard flasher, through the turn signal switch, and out to their respective lights at each corner of the vehicle.

Turn signals start at the fuse box as an ignition-switched feed, go through the turn signal flasher, through the turn signal switch, and out to the appropriate lights.

Brake lights start at the fuse box as a battery-hot feed, go through the brake switch, though the turn signal flasher, and out to the rear lights.

Re: Do the headlight switches die?

Well for some reason, my headlight switch is affecting the blinkers. They work fine when the headlights are off. But when you turn the headlights on, they stop working on the driver's side.

Re: Do the headlight switches die?

Sounds like a grounding issue in the park lights wiring. I have normally had it in the front wiring. It could also be an issue with the tail lights too. My stuff though 90% of the time for that kind of issue was broken wires or bad grouns in the front half.

Re: Do the headlight switches die?

I agree, it sounds like a ground issue in those front lights.
