Best stock height shocks
Restoring my blazer to stock. What is the best shock for stock height on these trucks? Was thinking of going with Rancho or KYB. KYB offers 3 different styles. Just wondering what everyone has had the best luck with.

Re: Best stock height shocks
I put bilstein on my Blazer last fall, but havent driven it enough yet to say how good they are. Many people seem to like them. You have to order 1973 and up rears and remove the mounting stud, not difficult. Fronts remained the same into the square body trucks. Other members can give a better opinion of them.

Re: Best stock height shocks
I went OEM on mine. Here’s some examples.

I installed Skyjackers on my 71 Jimmy. They are white with red boots but look good on my hugger orange rig.

Re: Best stock height shocks
I just used the old mounting bolt on the rear. The square body rear has a stud that is mounted through the upper eye of the shock. It comes that way from Bilstein. You just have to grind one end of it off and drive it out, and then the shock is exactly like a 1972 should be, correct length, and mounts. It is not difficult, not much grinding involved, and driving the stud out was not difficult either. If your original bolt is not useable, should be easy to replace out of the hardware store. 1972 fronts are available from Bilstein, and exactly like the square bodies, they did not change. Look at a picture of the rear on bilsteins website and you will see what needs to be done to modify them, its not hard. Hope this helps, sorry for the late reply.
