Booster filter direction
Feel kinda dumb asking this question but there are no indicator marks on the filter. Replaced my brake booster vacuum line filter, I installed it with the 45 degree elbow on the booster side . Is that correct, are they directional or does it even matter?
Thank you |

Re: Booster filter direction
Where did you find a filter? Or what filter are you using. I need to do this, too, but haven’t had any luck finding one locally.

Re: Booster filter direction
Great, another thing I didn't know I was missing... seems to be ACDelco 17056236 or DORMAN 80195.
Seems these have to be positioned vertically and in a correct direction - though haven't found the correct direction. perhaps the right/45 angle goes towards the booster?

Re: Booster filter direction
It’s an old corvette part. Maybe if we dig up some pics of those engines we can figure it out.

Re: Booster filter direction
Here’s one pic of a 1978 engine bay I found.

Here’s the one I ordered. I was looking for a while and couldn’t find the Dorman part and I guess I never thought to use the ACDelco part number. I remember reading that this is supposed to be replaced annually, so definitely an item to add to your inspection list.

Re: Booster filter direction
I've never ever had a filter in the brake booster vacuum line, on any vehicle I've owned. I can understand it's use, but still.

Re: Booster filter direction
I also curious as I'm removing mine and getting ready to install a new booster also. Don't see any on mine.
