CST Tailgate Trim

So wanted to replace woodgrain tape but to my surprise the letters have rivets
on the backside. How do you remove them and replace over new tape.

Just one option for removal. Drill them out. I would suggest installing a stop on the drill bit if you want to keep the letters. New rivets can be used for installation or you could source some short sheet metal screws.

Yes I was thinking of drilling them and look into epoxy to install them back. I guess I will drill one and see what it looks like.

Re: CST Tailgate Trim

Several companies make the metal replacement letters with fasteners. Just a thought and will save a lot of aggravation later.

Re: CST Tailgate Trim

Yes I discovered that and ordered a set. I drilled out one letter and the rivet is part of the pot metal casting so as a result not enough left to work with. I also discovered that paint remover takes of the old wood grain tape, bit of labor involved but that is the fun of it all. Thanks for the response.
