Last weekend, Fathers Day, was a great show once again. It was 100% better than last year (no show

). Between 800-900 trucks in all. I didn't get them all, but I hope I got a good sample of what there was to see

To be honest I don't think I can stop. Lord when I go to town I hope I don't get stopped by a cop.

Can you imagine how that might go, trying to explain in rhyme why I wasn't going slow?

Just amazing to me. They fired that Caterpillar up. Took a while. Operator starts it by inserting a rod into one of the holes in the exposed flywheel and giving it all he has... a lot of times. He was saying it was starting hard due to the heat. I wonder how it does in the cold. That was a real man's job operating one of those back then

You're welcome. I hope you can check a show out one year. This one's in PA but the ATHS's show migrates around the country year to year, bouncing from region to region. I was able to catch their show in York, PA in '15 and this year I got to go because it was in Harrisonburg, VA

5 more. That last truck is one of my all time favorites. He has had that truck and trailer a long time. I think he's retired now but he used to come in from a haul.

P.s Like the first photo of the thread. There is a GMC DF860 Cannonball actually local to me. Sitting in the weeds since late 1997 or 98. I got a tip from a friend about it. It's rough But supposedly all complete. I'm just wondering if the $5000 he is asking is a "Fair price or up-to-date price?". I know they're hard to find nowadays.

Truck prices have begun rising due to more interest. I guess that's not a crazy price these days. It has sat, most likely, because the big trucks are not so easy to dispose of. They don't even bring as much at the scrap yard as light vehicles and not as easy to drag in. Many of the beautiful restorations in this thread could have been given to the owners for the taking. But I believe those days are gone
