What are trucks going for nowadays?

Soon I will be looking for a 71/72 4wd longbed want a nice running driving truck, paint doesn’t need to be nice just looking for something that’s not a rust bucket to be my daily driver. Just want original engine and trans original paint or old paint to keep the cost down. Just looking for a rough estimate on the price for something similar to that. Thanks for your help.

Re: What are trucks going for nowadays?

This probably your best reference for asking prices. There will be some regional differences of course but, you can get a good idea of what to expect. And how far you may have to travel.

A nice driver K truck with original paint, engine, trans that hasn’t been beat to death without rust will run you 20-25k if you can find one.

“Original” I mean not LS swapped and 4l60e swapped. Paint doesn’t have to be super nice or anything just not a rust bucket. I’m going to be selling my daily the 02, 2500HD

Yep, unfortunately that’s the truth. Rusty parts trucks are bringing 3-5K in most cases it seems. K trucks in general are getting harder and harder to find.

Re: What are trucks going for nowadays?

My belief is the k trucks
Will become like blazers very shortly (to much money)
To find an example like Joe’s green one is non existent
Most of these 4x4’s were either
Beat run, modified or used to plow

Right now, they are what everyone wants

Here is an example, just played with to much ?

Re: What are trucks going for nowadays?

While I like all these trucks in every form, There’s just something extra special about a nice K truck. Mines not even nice and I get people offering $10K+ Pretty regularly. You just don’t see very many K trucks on the road even here in the southwest where there are still a ton of these trucks. (compared to other parts of the country) another thing I wonder is if more of the K’s probably went to northern parts of the country with more snow and have long since rusted away, making an already much less produced model even more difficult to find.

Think I would be better off finding a decent driveling rusty truck and just get all the rust fixed? Might end up being cheaper?

Re: What are trucks going for nowadays?

I think with time and patience you can find one with the criteria you stated in your price range. With that being said be ready to pounce if you do find one that meets your needs cause as has been stated K trucks are pretty desirable right now and do not last long.

That’s what I did, might be cheaper upfront but it won’t be in the long run. It can get pretty pricey real quick if you don’t do much of your own work. Mine only really needed floor patches, rockers and corners so it wasn’t so bad. Don’t get one with a rusted out roof and cowl if possible.

Thanks for the info, I plan on making it the daily year round so holes in the floor at -20 won’t be to great. I can pretty much do anything mechanical but body work wise I’m not the greatest.

40K in my pocket helped me grow right into another slammed short fleet.

They're all valuable to someone no doubt.
