Anyone describe how the 400 Transmission Kickdown Harness is supposed to be routed?

Working on a 1971 402/400TH

I rec'd the harness below, which plugs into the connector that comes through the firewall for transmission kickdown.

I'm stumped what the plastic clips are for, and the 3/8" hole connector as well. My 71 402/400TH was routed similar the image of the Assembly Manual, using two fixed clips and one at the transmission.

My 72 402/400TH is routed over to the RH side of the transmission, lays on top of the transmission to route to the terminal on the LH side??? It doesn't have the plastic clips, but does a steel clip (open-ended), though it's not attached to anything, nor do I see where it could be - it's probably wrong.

This looks like the common harness however. Can anyone tell me how the wire is mounted and where the three clips on the harness go? Near as I can tell I need to pull the clips off and match up to similar the Assembly Manual, which is like I found it in the first place

Loosen the bell housing bolts, push one or more of the wires in between the engine and trans, tighten the bolts back up! I've never done this... I'm here all week, tip your waitress!

Sometimes the transmission shops will do this for you at no charge.

You do?

Gave me a chance to more better the rear of the harness I've installed a lot of times, a run was on the wrong side of the modulator tube, I think. I ended up pulling the harness' dual purpose for the right sending wire connector, and can say the replacement fits much better due a longer housing slot.

I put the bottom kickdown clip on the same line as the top one. Don't know if it's right, but I think it looks clean, the clips are happy, nice slack and the wires off stuff. Timing is everything, this would have taken me forever if at all - I was "going around the block to get next door".

Turns out my 72 was closer to right, when it's not SO HOT I'll pull it off the housing & hang it. The wiring in that truck is a little touchy. Doesn't help the cab is naturally vented.
