Hole in floor pan suppose to be there?
I bought a 72 C10 short bed truck and it has a hole in the passenger side floor board that looks like its suppose to be there, but past C10 trucks I have had didn't have this hole. Any idea if its something a previous owner did to the truck or something from factory?

That almost looks like a drain hole for something maybe a AC system?

Doesn't have factory A/C, unless at some point it had some kind of aftermarket....but no A/C components on truck.

That was added by someone. Looks like an electrical fitting called a chase nipple. They are used to protect wires going through the side of a metal box. Probably has a ring nut on the bottom side.

Ahh, does look like an electrical box part for home wiring. Not sure what the thing is next to it at 11 o'clock.
It is not a factory a/c drain at all. |

Re: Hole in floor pan suppose to be there?
IIRC, my 72 had the "rubber floor mat retainers" and the aftermarket Front Under Carpet Soundproofing that I got from GMC Pauls had holes in the right places to match those studs. Either way, by the time the tar-like soundproofing and carpet was installed...they don't show and held the soundproofing in place nicely. Dual function, maybe...OR there are different studs for the soundproofing vs rubber mat? IDK. I'd leave them until you get to installing the tar mat and carpet.

Re: Hole in floor pan suppose to be there?
My 72 K20 is a cheyenne and has those floor studs too. I laid the new carpet right over them. I just assumed maybe the oe jute padding hooked to them.

That's an electrical conduit fitting.

Jeez . That was used to dispose of weed when you were being pulled over . Less obvious than chucking it out the window
