Interior parts needed
Hey All,
I am still hunting for a set of factory GM 4x10 speaker brackets and grills that go behind the seat of a 73-87 GM truck. I am also looking for a set of door speaker grills that came in the doors of a 1980 GM truck, Blazer, etc. really would like red, but baggers can't be choosers. I am also looking red interior parts for a 77 silverado, door panels, door carpet, door map pockets, etc. I also need the little door pull strap screw covers, they are chrome with black scwigles on them. Thanks alot, Dana

Dana;
I think your best bet for the door pull strap covers is to buy them from GM or GM Parts Direct. The part number is 364392. The cost from is GM is $10.78, for GM Parts Direct: $6.14 + shipping. My experience with the caps on my 78 is that they break the first time you take them off. Doug |

Unless you just luck out finding the parts you ask for used is going to be a small wonder. A lot of those parts get destroyed by the sun. 78 they changed door pannels and a little bit of the door as to how they mount. So your looking for a part that hasn't been made in 25 years. Coverlay has a ok reproduction. Not a perfect copy of the original but it is available.
You could easily run a newer set of door pannels if authenticity is not a concern. After owning a 75, 79 and 88 I have to say the 88 pannels look much better then the 70's ever did. It's been a while since I have been here but Smallwood auto recyclers had a bunch of these body trucks. They are off Bankhead inside the perimiter. I actually scored a near perfect Dash for my 70 LeMans there. It was shear luck. Just watch yourself around there. Drive a low profile beater out there if possible. Not the best of hoods and I have heard of people cars broken into while they are in the yard hunting parts. Also check pull a part off Moreland. They get new stuff all the time. Might give Keith Griffin at Four Lane Auto Parts in Cartersville a ring 770 386 0444 see what he has. He specializes in 4x4's and trucks so buys a lot of GM trucks for engine and drivetrain. I scored a low mile Crate from him a couple years back for $800 complete with accesories and carb. Little bit of a ride but if he has been buying like he was when he was at Griffins then he will have a pretty good stock now. on hwy113 Cagle is right down the road from Four lane. They are hit or mis. I have been lucky and got some good parts in the past but most of their stock has been there a while and picked over 770 382 0199 on 113 Might Check with Keiths Dad in Rockmart. He and Keith were not talking last I heard so don't mention that you have been to Keiths or Vise versa or the price goes up. It's Griffins on hwy113 770 684 8992 He has a pretty good newer inventory. Specializes in trucks. He opened that yard about 4 years ago after selling his yard on hwy 92 in Dallas (still a yard there but don't know the name or number). He was buying like crazy. This is the lot I got the crate at When Keith was working there. The truck it came out of was in great shape till it got broadsided. It was a garage parked truck with Black interrior.. It had the grills your looking for. I remeber seeing them. Might still be there but last time I looked at it was 3 years ago. Place in Ellijay as well and I can't remember the name. Crawfors or something. They are a small yard but he brings in trucks and strips them so he actually gets a fair stock of items. I have seen some clean late 80's trucks there. I may make a trip to a few of these yards in N GA over the holidays. I'll keep an eye out for what your looking for. If you hit small wood or Pull a Part keep an eye out for a mid 90's Center console and a 89-91 Suburban overhead. Any colr but blue prefured.

I may still have a set of speaker brackets and grills I got them for my 83 project truck a few years ago. I will see if I still have them I don't plan to use them if I do. I will let you know.

I found them here is a picture of them They are in good shape but one of the speaker grills has a crack next to one of the mounting screws but it does not seem to affect anything. How does $8.00 plus the ride is that a fair price to you. Let me know.
