headliner mounting ideas
Hey guys,
I'm needing some advice on how to mount the headliner in my truck. Its one of the plastic ones with a vinyl cover. The PO had mounted it with velcro on both sides, but eventually in the heat, the glue melted, and the headliner won't stay put. I tried cleaning it all up, and adding more velcro again, but within minutes in the heat, the glue let go and the thing drooped again. any ideas?

Re: headliner mounting ideas
How important is it to remove in future? Polyurethane caulk.is what I would use..... I like Sika flex 1a. Comes in 10 oz. Tube....clean both sides, make a couple props, 4 good golf ball sized blobs, prop it up, it's got to cure for 24 hrs....this is what's used in newer cars to glue windshield in.

I used magnets. small ones shaped like an aspirin tablet. they looked like rivet heads.

Re: headliner mounting ideas
Interestingly this has come up before. The same issue you are talking about they had. Some of the comments were same, magnets, different glues or epoxy, even some snaps (but they required drilling into roof) to actually just screwing it on.
I plan to make my own headliner with some light weight plastic and then sew some foam to some material with a design and then glue that to the plastic and then using screws with caps attach that to the roof. Yes i can sew and i have my own machine even.... lol

Re: headliner mounting ideas
I know they sell them for them, but for a long time they were out of stock everywhere and after reading some info on them, making one to me seems fun and i can design it as i want.
