Any one else have to work on X-mas?

Hey was just wondering how many other people ended up working the holidays besides me. This is the 4th X-mas out of the last 5 years that I have had to work. Really sucks not being there when my little girl wakes up. Oh well hope everyone has a great holiday.

This is the first year I've been off over the Christmas holiday in several years. The way my schedule fell this year was almost unbelievable, off the 22nd, back on the 27th. I've always had to work Christmas or Christmas Eve, so I feel sorry for those that have to work.

Working Christmas!!

Hey guys, I know it's the pits but-----there are a whole lot of guys and gals working Christmas in the worst possible conditions, who aren't going to be home on the 26th or 27th. They look at pictures of their family, friends, and occasionall catch a cell phone for a quick call---then back to the duty at hand. Crappy food, weekly bath--- maybe with warm water, etc.
Let's keep things in perspective----they are there so we can be here and not worry about terrorists. Enjoy what we have and smile a big smile as we have it soooo good!!! Look out the window and perhaps you will see the big fat guy flying by!!

I'm on the ship standing duty right now. But, in the morning I'll be headed for the house. But I really don't mind. I could be one of the folks forward deployed protecting our way of life!

Unfortunately, being a funeral director, I am on call this Christmas week as well. Last year I had a home death at 5:30 AM. I remember ranting and raving to my wife "why me" till I got to the house and saw a hospice nurse, policeman and EMT. I thought, there are all professions other than me here this Christmas Morning and seeing a family in utter shock, I figure there are alot of people with bigger problems than working on a holiday. Since then it doesn't bother me as much, I just try and get home and watch my 4 year old play with his toys even if I can't watch him open them.
