1970 gmc half ton disk swap

So I bought a 70 gmc a few days ago and and my plans are to fix it up and drive it.going over the truck I found that the front end is Beyond wore out no brakes.lots of play in everything it’s sat for 15 years.it still has drum brakes on the front I want to convert to disk while I have the front end apart l.I don’t want to use a aftermarket brake kit.I do have brand new hd spindles for a 73/87 c10 and ball joints.can I just use the 73/87 spindles and brakes and ball joints or do I need something else(

You'll need tie rods and the front crossover bar that the inner rods hook too. Sorry I forgot it's name.

Drag link. You will need the drag link from a 73-87 as well. I have one if you need it and can’t find one locally.

Check this thread by lolife99 out. It is in the mini-FAQ at the top of the suspension forum.

I wish there were pictures alongside this list so I could determine what type of swap and parts had been installed from the previous owner. Many of us buy trucks with the swap already done and need to know which parts to buy when we "freshen up" the front end and brakes.

Maybe have a new thread/stickie on identifying what parts you have on your swap?

That’s a good ideal.I think 73/87 have 11/16 tie Rods and 67/70 are 5/8 tie rods
