Re: Powdercoating Exhaust Manifolds Question

My ram horns were powdercoated about 12 years ago. The color is definitely duller than new and there is some rust spots on the right, but they may clean up a bit if I tried.

Re: Powdercoating Exhaust Manifolds Question

This stuff is supposed to be great for cast iron manifolds:

https://www.eastwood.com/calyx-manif...ting-3-oz.html
I haven't used it, but have seen many rave reviews on forums of this product.

It is a dressing so it needs to be reapplied every few years or so. It will not reduce heat temperatures though like powder coating, but it will not chip off or scratch if you have to take off your manifolds or pull your engine. If it does get scratched it can just be reapplied and good as new again.

Not powder coated. I sprayed these with dry graphite spray. Supposed to wear off and just reapply with a rag.

Re: Powdercoating Exhaust Manifolds Question

I just used an Eastwood coating on some corvette manifolds. Works great, looks great.

If you don't reapply it after several years it doesn't peel or wear off, it just turns white: it still adheres and protects.

I guess it depends on what look you are going for, some people are particular about these things.

Re: Powdercoating Exhaust Manifolds Question

I had my exhaust manifolds ceramic coated. They are both right side Corvette manifolds.

I have been very pleased with the results.

If you do this make sure the shop that does the work properly preps the cast iron. If it is not done properly the cast iron will allow corrosion to weep through from the inside of the manifold and discolor the coating on the outside.

Polymer Dynamics in Cypress, TX did mine.

Actually found a place in Calgary that does the ceramic coating and called yesterday and will be sending mine there to get done.
