Cross member swap what springs?

I’m sure this has been asked but I’ve been searching for over an hour and can’t find the answer. I have a ‘65 1/2 ton putting ‘86 cross member in what springs do I use the one for the ‘65 or the ‘86? Thanks

Doesn't matter.

I'd start with the springs you have, and see how it sits and rides.

If you're going to lower it, I'm a big fan of 1-Ton coil springs and cut them to the height you want. They are much stiffer (so you don't bottom out - kinda important) but still ride good.

Re: Cross member swap what springs?

Well the truck is currently on an ‘86 frame and I am building a ‘65 frame to swap back under it and doing a 5.3/4l60 swap. I’m lowering it as I build it and trying to only do it once.

Re: Cross member swap what springs?

I was once told by Early Classic tech support that squarebody springs have a greater spring rate than your stock ones. This was because they were heavier trucks with larger engines, A/C, P/S, P/B, all that smog crap, automatic trannys etc.
