carriage bolts for bedsides
Did the original bolts have larger squares (under head) than the carriage bolts available today? My bolts just spin in the hole.

Not sure but I just put new carriages in OE bed panels & they didn't spin ... 5/16 along edges & 3/8 in the 8 mounting holes.
