K20 front brake hoses 4" lift

I'm needing some new brake hoses for my 69 k20. It's got a 4" lift and a dana 44 from a '79. I can't seem to find anything with the right ends and length. What has everyone else done for hoses? I checked Inline tube's website and I don't think the ones they list are long enough. Any thoughts?

Offroad Design has longer hoses in braided.

Re: K20 front brake hoses 4" lift

I’m pretty sure I got mine from inline tube. It was a set for squarebodies with the rear center and the fronts advertised for 2-4” lift. Fit the 76 D44 I have in my ‘68. I do remember looking for awhile before I found them. I won’t be home for a couple days but I’ll see if I can find something with a p/n when I get back.

Re: K20 front brake hoses 4" lift

I used 88-98 C30 front hoses on my ‘57. (88 K5 frame with 4” lift) they were plenty long enough. I’ve got a set of the braided hoses from ORD on my ‘98 with 6” and they are real good quality. I’m going to run a set of those ORD hoses on my ‘72 when I get around to putting the lift under it.

Re: K20 front brake hoses 4" lift

I always ask for '78 C20 brake hoses at Napa. Trucks in those years had longer hoses with the right ends. I didn't know the 88-98s will also work. Good to know

Those look like they would work. They are an inch longer than what Inline tube offers. Just depends on where they measure from. No one states how they are measured. I assume it's an overall length. I'll call them this morning. I have quite the collection of hoses that won't work. Either too short or wrong ends, etc.

Re: K20 front brake hoses 4" lift

Little update on finding brake hoses. I called Inline tube yesterday. Guess I called them twice, first and last time. Not helpful at all. I asked about custom hoses since they "don't have any stock items" for my application, the guy was super rude and seemed like he really didn't want to mess with my order. Kept telling me he needed to know what ends I needed. Each time I tried to explain that, he says they don't have that. I finally told him I'd search elsewhere and I think that made his day. Anyway, I called ORD. They were friendly, had the hoses and adapters in stock and were knowledgeable about what thread size each end should be, etc. I ordered them right then and deleted Inline tube's number from my phone. I've went almost 50 years without spending a dime with them and plan to go another 50.

On my '74 K20 I'm running the Pro Comp stainless braided hoses
https://www.summitracing.com/parts/e...ckup/year/1974

I've got them in the stock frame locations and haven't had any issues with them.

Here's my truck and the front brake hoses.. Looks like I need to get some things touched up in spring after looking at these pictures. Also, the OP said his axle is a Dana 44 from a '79 truck but in '79 trucks had a GM 10 bolt front axle.

Gm still used the 44’s in limited capacity until 80.

Re: K20 front brake hoses 4" lift

It's definitely a dana 44. It's from a late '78 or early '79. The calipers are 10mm banjo. Those started in '79, but the donor truck was a '78. Either way I've got the correct brake hoses ordered 🤞

Re: K20 front brake hoses 4" lift

Looks like I’m a bit late but finally made it home and checked. Inline pn D-6-9. 73-78 with 2-4” lift. They work on the older SAE calipers. Looked fine when I hooked them up but didn’t drive it before tearing everything apart.

I kinda like the braided hoses with the plastic covering. Just easier to clean/keep clean.

I tried that. Wrong size ends. Original truck has 1/4" flare, those lines would be 3/16". Not sure they were quite long enough, either. I've got some ordered from ORD that I'm hoping will work.

ORD is awesome to deal with..Inline tube customer service sucks bad..Their park brake cables are too short for the K20's and they could care less

I was very pleased with ORD. Their guy on the phone actually knew his stuff. Inline tube really didn't care if I got something from them or not. I won't try to use them again for anything.

I had heard enough about Inline Tube that I opted to order the stupid things off of amazon just in case they had to go back.

ORD is great to deal with. Only problem I've had with them is it takes forever to get my stuff shipped.

Re: K20 front brake hoses 4" lift

I got a set from skyjacker they fit well and can be ordered in diff lengths for lifted trucks

Inline tube issue i find with many vendors as front end people no longer have any training or qualifications like they used to be people with a partsman trade training now its someone off the street clicking buttons

Re: K20 front brake hoses 4" lift

I dealt with the owner of Inline when I ordered custom length hoses and cables. I felt like I was the first one to get them to do custom. This was many years ago. He said they only do OEM spec. I asked why he couldn't build the same part but to my specified length. Then it was "not responsible if they don't fit". I agreed, they made them, and they worked.

I went to Inline because the rear hose provided in the braided stainless set from Skyjacker (through 4WPW) was all wrong. Wrong size and wrong gender at the axle end. That truck had 6" springs. I never changed my rear hose for a 4" lift, but I use mid to late '70s C20 hoses up front and they work on 71/72 K/20s. There's an unneeded mount tab along the hose I remove.

Are you using 71/72 calipers? That is where part of my trouble is, I'm using calipers from a '79. That's what the front differential is. I think the ones from ORD will be the ticket. The longest ones Napa had are close to 24". I felt like that is a little short. My lift may be a little more than 4". We'll know more on Monday when they show up.

Re: K20 front brake hoses 4" lift

Your axle being a '79 is why the C20 brake hoses we recommended had wrong ends. I'm glad you got what you needed in braided stainless. I've used those for trucks that were more a performance build. But the C20 hoses suggested do work and are long enough on 71/72s with 4" lift. That is what I show in the picture
