Mud flap behind rear wheels?
Hi guys. I have a 68 Panel and I have a question about what I think is a mud flap. I saw this picture below (not my truck) and it looks like some sort of mud flap behind the rear drivers side wheel. Did this come on the truck originally? If so, anyone know the dimensions? Is it steel? I'm guessing that Suburbans might have only have one behind the driver side wheel due to the spare tire wheel well on the passenger side.
I know that I probably won't find any originals so I think I'll just make them out of some steel. Or, maybe make them out of a semi truck mud flap? It would be great if someone can tell me a rough dimension. Thanks

Re: Mud flap behind rear wheels?
Here ya go! They are stamped steel and a pretty heavy gauge. Thicker than the body panels.

Re: Mud flap behind rear wheels?
Just a little update on how they turned out. I used 16 gauge sheet metal and a slightly different design. I had to wait until the floor was in before I could install them. Thanks again for your help.

Looks good! Yours should give more protection than the originals. LockDoc

Re: Mud flap behind rear wheels?
Yes, I made them wider than the stock ones. They go from the quarter panel to the frame. The original ones look like they are the width of the tire.
