Something different thread
This looks to be a COE, now running a Diesel, and Tracks........
Could this be a snow puller, to pull heavy machinery out?

Re: Something different thread
Neat "truck." Maybe an old tank retriever?

Re: Something different thread
It looks like the chassis started out as an M4 - M6 high speed tractor .
Further research shows that it probably started out looking something like this one. Some interesting info here https://usautoindustryworldwartwo.co...s-chalmers.htm.

Re: Something different thread
very cool adaptation, it looks like rubber tracks so it could be driven on the roads
mr48 nailed it with the chassis from the look of the vehicles in the background, it's being used for car crushin'

Re: Something different thread
Ogre may have hit on something, that might be a monster truck on tracks.
I'd think that we may not have seen many of those in civilian use when they hit the war surplus lots as they had to be very expensive to run and keep up.

Re: Something different thread
How about doing something like this for COE's
A rare example where an engineer thought about the mechanic.

Re: Something different thread
That bus must have had a long slip yoke driveshaft. It makes you wonder that they may have been set up so whole subframe setup radiator and all could be swapped out by taking a few things off and loose and lifting the unit out and setting another in place.

Re: Something different thread
I was thinking very long yoke slip shaft setup similar to a pto shaft for a piece of farm equipment.

Re: Something different thread
The green one is post 18 is is a recreation as I am pretty sure that the one they tried to escape from Cuba in/on was sunk by the Coasties.
http://www.floatingcubans.com/ There is a great story here on that recreation. https://news.pickuptrucks.com/2009/0...recreated.html

Re: Something different thread
Heck, the way things are going in America, I'm thinking of using my AD to float to Cuba.
At least Cuba isn't outlawing internal combustion engines like New York and California.
