Dyno'd my truck the other day

I used the chassis dyno at work a few days ago. After a little tuning on the computer I ended up with the following:

301 hp @ 5800 rpm (still made 300hp @ 6300)
313 ftlb @ 4400 rpm

That's with a completely stock LS1. I do have a custom intake pipe, dual exhaust, and a programable ECU.

Not bad through a 700r4 automatic. I was very happy.

The ET estimates for that and my 3500 lb truck(3650 with me) is 13.3 seconds.

i thought an LS1 vette motor made 345hp? is that an f-body motor?

The 345 hp rating for the LS1 vette is at the flywheel, not at the rear wheels. When you factor in the typical 15 to 20 percent drivetrain loss, his 301 hp is probably 350-360 hp at the flywheel, so I would say that his motor is as strong or stronger than a typical vette. The only difference between F bodies and vette LS1's is the exhaust, which he has changed over to something more similar to the vette as I understand it.

Very well done!! I hope my conversion comes out as strong as his. I am using Hooker long tube headers on my LS1 project, so I am hoping to at least equal these numbers.

That's true Tmax. I'm actually using the factory corvette exhaust manifolds. They're almost layed out like headers. I'm actually changing the exhaust soon so I'll probably pick up at least 10 horse.

Can't wait to see your conversion. Have any pics??

Sweet power numbers! I remember reading in Popular Hot Rodding that the LS1 was under rated....they dyno'd one in a Trans Am and it had like 299 at the rear wheels.

Sounds like a fun little truck

I've got the 2001 Vette manifolds (basically shorty header) from my '01 Coupe if your interested in doing like Injected68LS1 did. Went to long tubes about a year ago on the vette.

Injected68LS1 , Did you do a print out? I would really like to see the hp/tq curve.

I have a 99 LS1 in my 82 Blazer with a 4L60E, and 3.73 gears. It has a set of Street & Performance "shorty" headers, and a true dual exhaust, with hi-flow cats. I am curious to see your curve, so I can guess how my combo would perform....

I have to pull the graph off of the dyno computer. I'll post it soon. I still have some tuning to do. I'm missing some torque down low.
