Spindle Selection Help
Hello! I'd like to keep my aftermarket 15" rims, I think they look good. Also the city doesn't like project vehicles & parts lying around, you know the song & dance.
I frequently saw the 73-87 spindle posts saying they'd have to get another rim set due to caliper clearance. Would I also have to switch out rims for the 71-72 spindles due to the caliper? Also how could I find out if my rim would work? (there are alot of 90's & below vehicles with 15" tires & disc brakes) I read the stickys & many other posts, Thanks fof all the help & advice! |

Re: Spindle Selection Help
We need more information to help you.
What is the width and back spacing of your current 15 wheels?

Re: Spindle Selection Help
I have 15x8 ET slot mags on the front of my 1972 GMC. They rubbed on the calipers when I first installed them. They were rubbing on the center of the calipers where it is raised from the casting process. So I just took a grinder to the calipers and now have about 1/16" of clearance. Only issue is, the tires shop can't use stick on weights to balance the rims and tires.

Re: Spindle Selection Help
Appreciate the replies!
Gary, I like the answer... I try to avoid all that, but these [cheap] parts can be their own problem. Thanks HO455 I'll look at that too... Backspacing of the rim is 4" 7.25" center to inside edge, 14.5" total inside radius edge to edge |
