Oem metal fan???

I'm looking for the oem metal fan, with clutch, and shroud,so far all I've found was one on Amazon around 40 bucks, Hayden clutch around 30, I'm not going electrical fans on this route, everything is delayed order and higher prices like lmc, classic industries, if Whitney, Amazon is fastest delivery....

I've found a few later years on ebay...would a 90s 5.7 fan fit an 80s 5.7, looking at it I almost wanna hope they're interchangeable....also found a few 88 and 89 years...my sierra is 85.

Re: Oem metal fan???

You need a mechanical fan for 87 and older because your water pump spins clockwise since it has v-belts. (85-87 had v-belts for accessories and serpentine style belt for the alternator.)

88 and newer had serpentine belts and the water pump and fan spun counter-clockwise.

So look at these two fans.

I think the stock fan that was on my 87 was 19".

Pretty sure there are different shrouds depending on year, engine size, AC/no AC, Auto vs Manual trans.

Plus variations on radiator hold down brackets and covers.

The different options got different radiators and therefore different shrouds, etc.

The 17119 I found on Amazon also, but it's around same price as summit, just have to make sure it fits Hayden clutch I posted in pic , summit is 40 mins away from me, but I'll have them deliver instead. Gosh I'm so regretting losing my original fan.....

Re: Oem metal fan???

GM had a voluntary recall on the metal fin fans. I know for a 1978 350 it was first recalled decades after 1978. The fins would remove from the rivets and become a projectile. The replacement fan blades which I bought was just two pieces of metal and not the fin style of fan.

Re: Oem metal fan???

For the fan shroud, you can look in junkyards, Facebook, Craigslist, eBay, here, or resto websites.

My 87 had the 19" fan and the truck had A/C, 350, automatic, and 4x4. So you're going to have to check and make sure the shroud works with your fan. eBay has a few different ones on there right now.
