Post ignition question

Will leaving my ignition on to play my stereo damage my HEI ignition?

Good question and I'm not sure about an answer, but my first thought was why not use Acc. side of switch instead of the On side?

Although I don't do it often or for very long, I have done this without any problems...

barn9, 67's don't have the acc. side.

Red face

Brad,
You say the '67 doesn't have acc?! I was going nuts, wondering why mine didn't work. Paul, do you know if a later switch will work in a '67?

Thumbs up

Dave, I had to replace my switch cause it went bad in my 67. I put in a later replacement switch with no problem.

the only reason leaving a breaker point ignition on damaged them is because if the points are broken at the time of energization (is that a word) the breaker points would arc and burn. there are no contacting points in HEI. thank god for electronic ignition, always hated points and to heck with originally if theres something better.
