Thumbs up My first truck, rusty '84 shortbed (I love it!)

I got my first vehicle, luckily just what i wanted, an '84 very rusty, but hey it was free.Im only 15, Next weekend im gonna pull out the good 305 and drop in a bad one. Stupid move, i know but its one of the conditions to the free part. Anyone got any 350's for say about $300. Wish me luck, i got this truck all planned out. I can't wait for a good 350.

if you're pulling a good motor, and trading it for a junk one, leave it sit without an engine for a while until you can find another good one.

I have a nice SBC 406 that will fit right in that hole. I also have a 50k mile 305 that runs perfect too!!

Get the casting numbers off of it to be sure, then go here: www.mortec.com

A friend of mine told me today that one engine he had that I was thinking of snagging was a 350. I got the numbers, (right side, facing front, driver side if it was in truck, behind the head where the tranny bolts up) turned out it was a 305 or 262. People are stupid.

Good luck with the truck!

thanks ill need the luck, im currently driving it around and it barely picks up 60 and the brakes barely work, but if i put it in neutral and rev it up then pop it in drive i can make it burn out a little. only a little because i discovered it has a limited slip (im so happy) its a scary truck to drive because at 60 it starts shaking like a mother trucker. i think the trans is stuck because its a brand new rebuild but when they put it in and parked it for about a year and sunday was the first time it had been driven so im begging my mom for a frame up restoration
